Bickington Village Hall is very pleased to be hosting another professional music event supported by Villages in Action.
Thursday 14th March at 7:30pm
'Celebrating the femme fatale in all her feisty glory, jazz singer Sarah Moule’s new show is filled with sassy and sublime songs by Fran Landesman & Simon Wallace, Jacques Prévert, Cole Porter, Stephen Sondheim, Leiber & Stoller, Ida Cox and Nellie Lutcher.
From Eve and Cleopatra to Mata Hari and Marlene Dietrich the femme fatale has always been present - desirable and dangerous. Sarah takes a 21st Century look at her favourite fatales and finds there’s more to them than meets the eye.
Sarah worked closely with Fran Landesman and Simon Wallace ('one of the finest song-writing partnerships' The Observer) for over a decade, recording three highly acclaimed CDs featuring their work. Her fourth CD, Songs for Scarlet Women, is released in 2013.
‘Outstanding interpretations’ The Observer.
‘Brilliant and assured’ Claire Martin OBE, Radio 3 Presenter.
‘Tough and tender, sweet and salty, hauntingly gorgeous’ Jazz Times USA.
‘The excellent Sarah Moule - a fine voice and a great talent. Drama producers talk about actors lifting text off the page and Sarah does just that with these songs’ Russell Davies BBC Radio 2.
‘Out of all the great gigs I have seen featuring singers, I have to pick the massively underrated Sarah Moule’ Brian Blain, Jazz UK on his performance highlights 1996-2011.
